It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of William “Bill” Murden, Jr, who peacefully left us on February 12, 2025, at the age of 78.
Predeceased by his parents, William A. Murden and Louise Murden, Bill was a beloved husband to Helen “Bootsie” Murden for 56 years, a devoted father to Angela Whitlock and Christian Murden (Stephanie), and a cherished grandfather to three grandchildren: Bryce, Ryan and William. Throughout his life, Bill had an unwavering love for his dogs, especially Casey, Pepper, Abby and Maggie who were cherished members of the family.
A proud Vietnam War veteran, Bill grew up in Portsmouth, VA, before later retiring to Nellysford, VA, where he enjoyed his later years surrounded by the natural beauty of the mountains. From a young age, he was passionate about the outdoors, enjoying golf, sailing, hunting, and fishing. His love for these activities was matched by his deep commitment to his favorite shooting club, Shenandale, where he forged lasting friendships and shared many unforgettable moments later in his life.
Professionally, Bill co-founded FamilyCare Senior Solutions and served as its CEO for nearly 40 years. His leadership, vision, and compassion helped countless families navigate the challenges of senior care, leaving a legacy of service and dedication in the community. After retiring from FamilyCare, Bill combined his love for the outdoors with a newfound passion for photography, founding Big Bark Photography. He enjoyed capturing the essence of family pets, hunting dogs, and farm animals, creating lasting memories for families and pet owners who shared his appreciation for the natural world.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
In keeping with the wishes of Bill, there will be no funeral service.
