Wesley Donell Harris

Wesley Donell Harris was born on May 29, 1948 to the late Lacy H. and Mary L. Harris of Shipman, Virginia.

He departed this life on Monday, February 3, 2025 at his home. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Marshall G. Harris and Lacy H. Harris, Jr. and one grandson, Rommel S. Washington.

Wesley joined Ebenezer Baptist Church at an early age. He attended Nelson County High. He enlisted in the U. S. Army in 1968 during the Vietnam era. After his military career he married the love of his life, Mrs. Virginia A. Harris.

Wesley was employed with ICS/Carrier Refrigeration Co. in Covesville, VA for 25 years.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife of 55 years, Virginia A. Harris of Shipman, VA; three daughters, Irma A. Gholson (Willie Gholson), Lina S. Harris, and Anita M. Harris. He is also survived by two sisters, Margaret J. Harris Walker (Marcus Walker) of Manassas, VA and Audrey P. Harris of Shipman, VA; two brothers, John C. Harris (Carol Harris) and Allen J. Harris of Shipman, VA; 7 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Also a host of nieces and nephews as well as cousins and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 9, 2025 at Ridgecrest Baptist Church in Lovingston with Pastor Francisco D. Mayo officiating.

Interment will follow in the Harris Family Cemetery in Shipman.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
