Thomas Roger Stinnett

On, Friday June 7, 2024, Thomas Roger Stinnett, 78, of Amherst, VA peacefully went to be with the Lord after many years of fighting Cancer and COPD.  

Roger worked at Lynchburg Foundry Lower Basin till it closed, then worked with his brother, Calvin putting in Clean Machine Car Washes until he decided to go back to the Archer Creek Foundry which is where he retired from.  He loved to mow, build things and his Little Dog Max who passed several months before him.

Roger is survived by his wife, Barbara D. Stinnett. He is also survived by his daughter, Roxanne Taylor (John); son, Scott Stinnett (Dana); grandson, Gregory Taylor; granddaughters, Emma Stinnett and Holley Stinnett; great-grandchild, Boe Stinnett; and brother, Hal Stinnett. 

Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Clinton and Gracie Stinnett; Brothers Carson, Beverly, and Calvin Stinnett and sisters, Judy Davis and Edith Watts.

The funeral will be held at Wells/Sheffield Funeral Chapel in Lovingston, VA on Monday June 10, 2024 with visitation at 1:00 p.m. and funeral at 2:00 p.m.  Rev. Jeffrey Campbell and Pastor Mike Fitzgerald will be officiating the service.

Burial will be at St. Stephens Baptist Church, 2903 Tye River Rd, Amherst VA 24521 following the funeral.  

The family would like to thank Roberta West, Brooke Harris and others who were his Centra Hospice care group and Dr. Joseph Khoury, his pulmonary doctor who cared for him for years.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Clifford Baptist Church where he was a member or St. Stephens Baptist Church building and grounds fund where he is being buried.
