Susan "Sue" Marie Scheidel Mangus

Susan (Sue) Marie Scheidel Mangus, 70, of Arrington went to dance with the angels October 22, 2023 at UVA Hospital with family by her side.

She was born in Marrero, Louisiana. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Arnold and Audrey Mae Scheidel, as well as her siblings, Eugene Scheidel, Carolyn Viverito, Arnold Scheidel Jr. , and Rodney Scheidel Sr. 

Sue is survived by her children, Renee (Greg) Grant of Arrington, Clinton Roberts of Lovingston, and Steven (Kiley) Thomas of Louisiana; her grandchildren, Madison (Johann) Booysen of Norwood, Alic Davis of Arrington, Caleb Davis of Scottsville, Chelsea (Wyatt & Catie) Grant of Arrington, Zachary Grant of Shipman, and Krista Thomas of Louisiana; great grandson, Ayden Howard along with her God Children and so many cousins, nieces and nephews in Louisiana. 

Sue will always be remembered for her big smile, sass, and of course, her huge heart. She was always the “mother hen” wherever she went, making sure all of her family, friends and neighbors were taken care of. Being from Louisiana, she learned everything from flatfooting to cajun cuisine at an early age, and excitedly passed it along to her family. Traveling most of her life, she chose the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains as her forever home. Laissez les bons temps rouler, our forever Cajun Queen.

 The family will be holding a Celebration of Life at a later date. Special thanks to David Scheidel, UVA CCU doctors & nurses, and all the family and friends that were there with her and the family during these difficult times.

 The family asks that any donations or contributions made in Sue’s name go to Almost Home PET Adoption Center located at 29 Stagebridge Rd. Lovingston, Va 22949.
