Steven Carl Simpson

Steven “Stevie” Carl Simpson, 63, of Faber, VA passed away on August 8, 2023 at home surrounded by his loving family.  He was born May 26, 1960 at Brookhaven Memorial Hospital in Mastic Beach, NY and later moved with his family to Nelson County, VA when he was 10.  He was preceded in death by his father Odie Russell Simpson and mother Pauline “Polly” Virginia Karns Simpson.

Stevie loved riding his Harley and would spend all day just driving around to nowhere.  He also enjoyed anything to do with race cars, whether it be Nascar, drag racing, or small local tracks.  He was born to a family who loved cars and had racing in their blood.  Growing up he spent much of his childhood watching his father compete in races all over the upper East Coast.  He loved watching football and was a diehard Dallas Cowboys fan. As an adult he worked as a truck driver and a construction worker.  He was a laid back, hardworking man and enjoyed the simple things in life whether that be sitting beside a river watching his kids/grandkids play or sitting on the porch hanging out with his family.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Wanda Gail Simpson, daughter Tiffany Laine Johnson and husband Jeremiah, son Steven Keith Simpson and wife Maria, daughter Megan Skye Simpson, and daughter Shyloh Faye Simpson.  He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren: Cole, Skyler, Caden, Noah, Alex, Fia, Lexi, Jaxon, and Polly.  He was also blessed to have met his first great grandchild Weston who was born July 16th.

Stevie is also survived by his two sisters, Barbara Pauline Thompson and Mary Elaine Ramsey and husband Ray; and two brothers, William Russell Simpson and Michael Wayne Simpson and wife Patsy.  He has a host of nieces and nephews and other extended family and many friends.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday August 13, 2023 at Oak Hill Baptist Church in Lovingston, VA with Rev. Bryan Painter officiating.  Interment will follow at Ridgecrest Baptist Church cemetery in Lovingston, VA. 

The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Saturday August 12, 2023 at Wells Sheffield Funeral Chapel.
