Sam Edward Morse

Trustee Sam Edward Morse, 91, of Wingina was called home on February 7, 2024.

Sam was born July 7, 1932 to the late Samuel and Frances Allen Morse.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Floyd Jackson.

Sam was the owner and operator of Sam E. Morse trucking for over 50 years.   He hauled gravel for many people near and far.  He retired one day and went back to work in two days.  He was an alarm clock for many people in the mornings.  Sam gave his life to Christ at an early age and joined the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Shipman.  He was a dedicated Trustee and served well until his health declined.   He visited many churches and loved to visit the sick and shut in on Sundays after church and helped many people in need.

Sam leaves to cherish his memory his caretaker and devoted wife of more than 65 years, Ruby Davis Morse; his children, Sandra Ross and her husband, Joseph, Patricia Beverly and her husband, Thomas and Pauline White all of Wingina and Kenneth Callen of Lynchburg; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; devoted friends, Randy Harris, Todd Gunter, and Danny Taylor as well as a host of cousins, church family, and friends.

The family would like to thank Rev. James Rose for all the visits to Sam no matter where he was.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 11, 2024 at Calvary Baptist Church 8408 Thomas Nelson Highway, Lovingston, Virginia 22949 with Rev. Herbert Woodson, Jr. officiating and Rev. James Rose eulogist.

Interment will follow in the Allen Morse Cemetery in Schuyler.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
