Roy Daymond Greene

Roy Daymond Greene, 95, of Amherst Virginia died Friday, January 10, 2025 peacefully at his residence.

Born December 30, 1929 in Red Boiling Springs, Tennessee. He was the oldest son born to Cavet and Delphine Greene.

He was a veteran for USAF, serving in the Korean War. After active service he entered the USAF Reserves and was employed by Department of Army Federal Government where he was awarded the highest honor a civilian could receive for exceptional service. Upon retirement from Federal Government he resided to a cattle farm in Amherst and became a member of Clifford Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Cavet and Delphine Greene; wife, Julie Greene; his brother, Lester Greene and his first wife, Josephine Hughes Greene.

He is survived by a sister, Joyce Waskowski; a daughter, Rebecca Rhodes; son, Michael Greene and Dianne; son, John Greene and Dotty; and son, Colin Greene and Pam. There are seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

The family would like to thank Madelyn Stevens, Nick Anderson, and Jennifer Sumner for the special care that they provided Mr. Greene.

The funeral service will be held at Clifford Baptist Church on Friday January 17, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. with Rev. Dr. Michael Fitzgerald, Rev. Jeffrey Campbell, and Rev. Clyde Mawyer, Jr. officiating with visitation starting at 10:30 a.m. 

Graveside Military Salute service will follow at Briarwood Memorial Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jason Rhodes, Brad Rhodes, Josh Greene, Curtis Anderson, Nick Anderson, and Ivan Johnson.

Refreshments will be served by the bereavement committee in the Social Hall at Clifford Baptist Church following the graveside service.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations to Gentle Shepherd Hospice, Blue Ledger Meals and Clifford Baptist Church.
