Norma Jean Crawford

Norma Jean Salisbury Crawford of Nellysford, Va. departed this life on September 24, 2022 at her home.

She was born May 20, 1955 in Charlottesville, Va. to the late Robert and Mary Wallace Salisbury.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Sandra and Kathy Salisbury and a brother -in-law Donald Crawford.

Norma is survived by her husband of 49 years, Delmas Crawford, of Nellysford, Va., two sons, Delmond Crawford (Rita) of Afton, Va. and Derek Crawford (Jarah)of Charlottesville, Va.; two-step sons, Chester Clark and Delmas Crawford, Jr.; three grandchildren, Daylin, Carina, and Davis Crawford; six sisters, Mary Steppe(Lewis), Bonnie Salisbury, Robin Salisbury, Wanda Barbour, Helen Barbour, and Melody Salisbury; two brothers, Robert Salisbury, III (Fannie) and John Wallace (Theresa); three brothers-in-law, Bennie Crawford (Zelma), Larry Crawford (Penny), and Eric Crawford (Sylvia); two sisters-in-law, Penny Carpenter and Pamela Crawford; and one aunt, Vivian Winston.  She also leaves a host of cousins, friends, and other loved ones.

Norma spent most of her young life in Albemarle County where she was raised and attended Albemarle High School.  She was a member of Mount Eagle Baptist Church.  She was employed at the Department of Defense for 29 years until 2006 when her health started to fail.  She also attended Piedmont College.

Her favorite pastime was knitting, shopping, reading, spending time with family and friends, supporting and attending all of her son’s sport events.  She had a great love and affection for children and her home was filled with joy of children for many years.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 29, 2022 at Mount Eagle Baptist Church Cemetery in Nellysford with Pastor Glenwood Morgan, Sr. officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
