Marion Sherwood Martin

Marion Sherwood Martin, age 88 of Shipman died Thursday, October 13, 2022 at the Charlottesville Health and Rehab Center in Charlottesville, Va.

Sherwood as most knew him was born on December 19, 1933 at Shipman a son of the late Marion Martin and Nettie Ramsey Martin.  

He was a retired employee of the DuPont in Waynesboro as a Finishing and Shipping Foremen and a musician whom loved his many musical instruments and entertaining at several locations and events with his band.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Nellie Thompson Martin; three half brothers, Ed, Cecil, and Jim and two half sisters, Mallie and Mary. 

He is survived by his caregiver and friend, Carolyn Knight of Keswick, Va.; twenty nieces and nephews, several great nieces and nephews and many other great-great nieces and nephews and many cousins and also a special friend and musical companion, Dennis Wright.

A funeral service will be held Sunday, October 16, 2022 at 1:00 P.M. at the graveside at Oak Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Lovingston with Rev. Dwayne Martin officiating.

The family will receive friends from 12 noon till time of services at the cemetery.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Wells/Sheffield Funeral Chapel of Lovingston.
