Remembering Mari Purvis Johnson:
On October 27, 2024, our beloved Mari passed away peacefully with her family by her side. To know Mari was to know love, kindness, and generosity. She was a wonderful wife, a proud mom, a loving daughter, sister, and friend. She leaves behind her husband, David; her daughter and best friend Katelyn; and Katelyn’s husband, Vincent; her parents, Philip and Grace Purvis; her sisters, Carolyn and Christina; and her brother-in-law, Kenneth were so dear to her, as were her nieces, nephews, and all the extended family and friends who filled her life.
Mari’s happiest role was being Katelyn’s mom. Their bond was deep and special, a friendship that only grew over the years. Katelyn brought Mari endless joy, laughter, and purpose, and she cherished every moment of being her mom.
In her work life at Saunders Brothers, Mari started out at the Farm Market where she enjoyed customers and loved those she worked with. Later she moved to Human Resources, where she became a go-to person for support and a kind word. She cared especially for the seasonal employees she called her “children”, even taking Spanish lessons to be able to communicate more clearly with them. Mari showed honor and understanding in all she did.
Mari’s faith was woven into her everyday life. She gave her heart to Jesus when she was young, and that faith stayed with her steady and strong, through every season of life. She was a prayer warrior with a big, compassionate heart always reaching out to God for others, singing praises to Him, and sharing her faith through kindness and love.
Her family and friends will always remember her smile, her encouragement, and her way of making life better just by being herself. We’ll miss her terribly but take comfort in knowing she’s now at peace, wrapped in the love of her Savior Jesus.
At a later date, we’ll gather for a private celebration of her beautiful life.
