Linda Saunders Dodd

Linda Saunders Dodd, 85, of Nellysford, VA, passed away peacefully on August 25, 2024 at Augusta Health in Fishersville, VA. 

Linda was born in 1939 to George Saunders and Lucy (Thacker) Saunders in Piney River, VA. Linda graduated from Nelson County High School in 1956. She studied nursing at Lynchburg General Hospital and worked there as a surgical nurse until she got married. 

Linda married Claude (Malcolm) Dodd on July 13th, 1974. They had one daughter, Christy. 

Linda was a devoted wife, mother, aunt, daughter, sister, grandmother, and friend. She loved nothing more than her family, friends, and helping others. She served God, her family, friends, church, and community. She enjoyed gardening; being outside; attending church; watching ‘The Voice’, HGTV, and sports; and spending time with the people she loved. She loved, and was loved by many; and she will be missed dearly. 

Linda was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, George (Helen) and Melvin. She is survived by her daughter, Christy Dodd (Martin Plybon), and grandson, Ronan Sobczak.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 1, 2024, at Rockfish Valley Baptist Church in Nellysford, with Pastor Adam Meredith officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. 

The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service. 

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to AMC Hospice – The Shenandoah, or Rockfish Valley Baptist Church. Special thanks to all of the doctors, nurses, and staff of Augusta Health for going above and beyond in the care of Linda and her family.
