Jesse Dylan Campbell, 19, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 19, 2023, at the University of Virginia Hospital, Charlottesville, VA surrounded by his loving and devoted mother, grandparents and relatives.
Jesse was born on January 30, 2004, in Lynchburg, Virginia as a preemie at only 1 pound and 9 ounces. Over the years he has overcome many obstacles, but always moving forward with a big beautiful smile on his face and a contagious laugh. Jesse is a Class of 2022 graduate of Nelson County High School and currently enrolled at Virginia Institute of Autism in Charlottesville, Virginia. Jesse enjoyed getting up early and waiting on his ride to take him to school. Jesse loved his school, his teachers and support staff.
Jesse loved everybody, especially spending time with his Mum Mum and grandparents taking long rides, going to the zoo, checking on the ducks at Lake Nelson, checking out the trains as they pass under the bridge at Oak Ridge and visiting family. Jesse never went too far without his iPads. Jesse was very intelligent and could navigate an iPad like a pro. He loved to watch YouTube videos, he liked loud music and he enjoyed videoing birthday parties, so he could go back and watch them. Jesse loved his family so much and showed it in many ways including sweet little kisses, big hugs, high 5's, fist bumps and saying I Love You, "Jesse style". Jesse was a young man of few words, but he touched the lives and hearts of so many people.
Jesse is survived by his loving and devoted mother, Anne Marie Tyree. His loving and devoted maternal grandparents, G.P. & Barbara Tyree. His Aunt Jennifer Tyree Fitzgerald, Uncle Mike Fitzgerald, and cousins Brianna (B) Fitzgerald, Michael Fitzgerald and Caitlin Blakeslee. Uncle George Preston Tyree, Ill and cousins, Steven Tyree, Joey Tyree and Nikki Tyree.
He has had lots of love and attention over the years from the medical staff at Virginia Baptist and the University of Virginia. We would like to recognize Jesse's pulmonary physician Dr. Teague for his love and visits over the years. There are no words that can express how grateful and blessed we are to have the attentive doctors at UVA, MICU recently and the loving nurses, Carolyn and Nina that most recently cared for Jesse.
Family and Friends are welcome to attend a Memorial Service at 2pm, Saturday, May 27, 2023 at Woodland Baptist Church in Colleen with Pastor John Campbell and Pastor Greg McCormick officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Jesse's memory to: Virginia Institute of Autism, 491 Hillsdale Drive, Charlottesville, VA 22901.
Arrangements by the Wells/Sheffield Funeral Chapel of Lovingston (434-263-4097).
