Harry Wellington Strickler, Jr., 92, of Amherst Virginia died on Friday, January 24, 2025.
He was born in Winnsboro, South Carolina on January 25, 1932 the son of the late Harry Wellington Strickler, Sr. and Emily Louise Strickler.
He is survived by his daughter, Donna Rutherford and husband, Timothy; granddaughter, Angela Campbell and husband, Ron; grandson, David Rutherford and wife, Nicole; great-grandchildren, Justin (Ty) Campbell and Katie, Haley Morris and husband, Zach, Samuel Campbell and Lillie and Levi Rutherford; great-great grandson, Lane Campbell; sister-in-law, Clare Strickler and nephew, Charles Hammond Strickler, Jr. (Pete).
He was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Gowen Strickler, a brother, Charles Hammond Strickler, Sr. and sister, Lillian Carolyn Strickler.
He served in the United States Air Force for four years as a Radio Technician. He retired from AT&T after 36 years of service and then worked at Advance Auto Parts for 17 years. He was a member of St. Stephen’s Baptist Church.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 31, 2025 at St. Stephen’s Baptist Church Cemetery, 2903 Tye River Road, Amherst with Pastor Mickey Ryan and Pastor Raymond Rowley officiating.
Military rites will be accorded by American Legion Post 16 of Lynchburg.
