Edna Lee Reed Giles passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her children and the caring staff at Waynesboro Manor on Saturday, February 15, 2025.
Born on September 4, 1925 in Jonesboro, Louisiana, she graced this earth for nearly a century.
She is preceded in death by her Husband: Bradish "Horsley" Giles, Parents: Alice Fitzpatrick & Joel Y. Reed, Siblings: Walton, Leonard, Marie, Myrtis, Willow Dean & Virgil, as well as great granddaughter: Betty Reed Thomas.
Her life was a testament to resilience, love, and boundless kindness. From her earliest years, Edna demonstrated a remarkable spirit. Growing up in a time of profound change, she met every challenge with courage and grace. As a young woman, she moved from her hometown to Washington, D.C. where she worked for the Pentagon. It was in the nation’s capital where she met a striking Navy man whom she married and later settled down with in Shipman, Virginia. From then on, her life was characterized by a deep commitment to her family. As a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, she poured her heart into nurturing those she loved. Her home was a sanctuary of love and joy, where countless memories were made and cherished. She raised five children: Gary Giles (Deborah), Carolyn Noe (Buddy), Stephen Giles (Tammy), Cheryl Miller (Ashley) and Olympia McDonaldson (Dave) and shared her love with 10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren, and her brother, Curtis Reed.
Services will take place on Tuesday, February 18th at the Wells/Sheffield Funeral Chapel with family visitation beginning at 1:00pm. Service will be officiated by John Campbell beginning at 2:00 pm followed by burial at Woodland Baptist Church where Edna will be laid to rest next to her husband, Bradish "Horsley" Giles.
The family would like to express continued gratitude for Oak Grove Manor and Waynesboro Manor for their years of support and dedicated care for Mrs. Giles. We will forever remember the exceptional atmosphere provided to her by your loving staff members.
