Earl Meade Mawyer, age 70, passed away at his home in Amherst County on November 20, 2024. Buddy was the oldest of five children born to Earl Hamilton Mawyer Jr. and Janie Stevens Mawyer, and he lived most of his life in Nelson County before relocating to Amherst County.
Buddy was predeceased by his parents, both of whom he was devoted to, and by his mother-in-law, Virginia C. Monk, with whom he maintained a close relationship until her death last month. He is survived by his beloved wife, Kimberly Monk Mawyer, a son, Chase E. Robinson (Krysta), his four siblings, Edith M. Burns (Kent), Kenneth H. Mawyer, Anne M. Ferguson (Danny), Gregory S. Mawyer (Joyce), and brother-in-law, John A. Monk (Jeanne).
Buddy was a longtime employee of Bastian Solutions. Most of his career as a technician was spent traveling, both foreign and domestic. He was known for his strong work ethic and troubleshooting capabilities. He was a savvy collector of coins and relics, a hobby that he began as a teenager. In the words of some of his cousins, “nothing but good comes to mind when thinking of Buddy.”
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
Arrangements are under the direction of Wells/Sheffield Funeral Chapel, Lovingston VA.
