Donna Leigh Simpson

On April 13, 2025, Donna Leigh Simpson left this world for her next adventure, leaving behind a legacy of love and kindness that will forever be cherished.

Born on August 8, 1959, in Charlottesville, VA Donna lived a life as spirited as her beloved Camaro and those old country songs she loved.

You never saw her in anything but jeans and a pocket tee standing ready to help anyone in need.

Donna’s journey was marked by dedication and service to others. She worked 22 years at UVa, retiring with many close colleagues who she kept in touch with until the end. Although she was offered a position at the Pentagon on graduating high school, she chose to stay close to her family, a testament to the deep love and commitment she had for those she loved.

Donna was preceded by both of her spouses, Ricky Dale Viar and Stephen Ray Pippin; her father, Marion Douglas Simpson, her mother, Arlene McQuary Simpson, her infant son, Michael Dwayne Viar, and her brother, Douglas Howard Simpson.

She is survived by her daughter, Shannon (Sidney), grandson, Tristan (Patrick), and granddaughters, Ayrian and Sage. She is also survived by her brothers, David (Debbie), Daniel (Belinda) and sister, Michelle (Dean) and a host of nieces and nephews and great nephews.

Per Donna’s wishes, graveside services will be held at Davis Cemetery in Shipman, VA at 2pm Friday 4/18/2025 assisted by Wells/Sheffield Funeral Chapel.
