Donna Baker Meeks

Donna Baker Meeks, age 70, passed away under hospice care on September 27, 2022 at her home in Amherst, VA. Daughter of Keith M. and Jerry B. Baker, Donna grew up in Nelson County and completed her Master’s Degree in Horticulture and Landscape Design from Virginia Tech. She retired in 2018 as Superintendent of Grounds at Sweet Briar College in Amherst, Va.

Donna’s life modeled many successes: as a mother, a grandmother, a friend, an accumulator of experiences, a seeker of knowledge, an embracer of nature, a student of spiritual growth. She faced her two-year cancer battle with a grace and determination that won the admiration of her friends, doctors and medical staff. We pray that her vigor, spirit, and grace will be carried on in the hearts of the many people she touched in her life.

Donna is survived by her husband, Thomas V. Meeks, her two children and their families: Katie and Brandon Turman, grandchild Alexander, and Robert and Lauren Meeks, grandchildren Ezra and Lola, and siblings Keith M. Baker, John Edward Baker and Janice Baker Schock and their families.

A memorial service will be held at Amherst Presbyterian Church in Amherst, at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 15, 2022 with Kathy Chase officiating.

A Celebration of Life for family and invited friends will be held at the Blue Mountain Barrel House in Arrington following the service and interment.
