Barbara Louise Venable Dillard July 20, 1933 - October 30, 2024

Barbara (Pudden) Louise Venable Dillard transitioned at Albemarle Health and Rehabilitation Center in Charlottesville, Virginia on October 30, 2024.

She was known as Pudden by family and friends. She held various housekeeping positions and finished her career at the University of Virginia Hospital. She liked bedazzled jeans and hats. The more bedazzled the better. She loved her Atlanta Braves baseball team and had plenty of conversations with her sister Pearl about those "darn" Braves. She attended St. Hebron Baptist Church in Wingina, Virginia faithfully where she was known as the mother of the church. She was active in Sunday School, the Usher Board and served several years as the Church Sexton.

Pudden was the daughter of the late Lucille Justice Mayo Venable and Ted Venable. She was the oldest of six siblings Calvin Roosevelt Venable (late), Elsie Virginia Venable Millner (late) and Pearl Lucille Venable Miles, Nena Marie Venable Ward, and Edward Augustus Venable. She was mother to Harold Curtis Venable, Sr. (late) and married to Charles Thomas Dillard (late). 

She is survived by siblings Pearl Lucille Venable Miles, Nena Marie Venable Ward, Edward Augustus Venable, daughter in law Beverly Venable, grandsons Harold Curtis Venable, Jr., Jermaine Venable, great grandchildren Jonathan Winston and Sydney Venable as well as nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, November 6, 2024 at St. Hebron Baptist Church 5092 James River Rd. Wingina, VA 24599 with Rev. Joseph Jones officiating. The viewing will take place at 1pm with the service at 2pm.

Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
